We aren’t always right, but we can always write.
The idea to start a newsletter/blog/whatever the cool kids are calling them these days has taken up more real estate in my mind than I care to detail. Had I charged it even a fraction of the modest rent I charge my tenants it would have yielded infinitely more than I am likely to ever see in monetization from it.
Yet that somehow made the task easier. After coming to terms with the reality that there will be no riding off into the sunset on the back of a wildly successful paid newsletter it free’d me to write about whatever the fuck I want (respectfully). No topic or tone constraints, no mandatory cadence, no staying in line. Just writing.
And if there is one skill I can truly put on my [mostly embellished] resume it is communication. Not only am I wicked good at it, I actually enjoy it. Whats more is that across my career spanning from Day 1 start ups to Fortune 5 companies there is a huge void of strong communicators. People who can teach, motivate, and connect with broad swaths of individuals.
So, I’m writing. Writing:
For humor
For understanding
For patience
For therapy
For fun
At the end of the day there’s a lot of things we can’t control.
But we can always write.
Who the F*#K is writing this?
Oh, hey! My names Collin. You probably already know me in some capacity (if not holy shit that means people are reading this from the wild!).
I am a pharmacist turned “please let me be anything but a pharmacist” (if you have ever worked a shift in a retail pharmacy you’ll understand). That journey has had quite a few stops thus far:
Employee #1 @ Ro
Failed health tech founder in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia
Realestate investor
House Flipper
Consultant
Advisor
And now…[un]professional writer.
